New funding is on its way to the Town of Rye to preserve an African American cemetery.
The Greenwood Union Cemetery now has $30,000 to repair or replace any current damaged headstones, identify unmarked graves and properly honor all those laid to rest on the grounds.
The funds came from the National Park Service.
African American veterans from the Civil War, World War I and World War II - as well as their families - are buried at Greenwood Union Cemetery.
