A 21-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver in Yonkers on Monday.

Yonkers police says the victim was hit around 4 p.m. near 632 Van Cortlandt Park Avenue.

Upon arrival at the scene, first responders found the victim had sustained severe injuries and immediate medical attention was provided to him. He was transported to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

His identity has not yet been released, pending family notifications.

The vehicle involved in this incident had left the scene but was located in Nassau County later in the evening by detectives.

Yonkers police say a firearm and ammunition were recovered at the scene but there is no evidence that a gun was fired during the incident.

They also say there was "no relation" between the victim and the driver, but their interaction “wasn’t random.”
