In a true sign that Christmas is right around the corner, the holiday market in White Plains is now open.
The city's annual holiday market kicked off its grand opening with a tree lighting ceremony. Barbara Mulligan, of Wappinger's Falls, came for the shopping and the Christmas vibe. "I've already done some early shopping, I'm very excited. And my sister just moved to Tarrytown, so it's very close."
With more than 60 Westchester area vendors showcasing their merchandise, the holiday market is also a great opportunity to recoup pandemic-related financial losses.
"My hope for the coming year is to eventually open a store once the pandemic settles down. With the pandemic…who knows? I might be at the Westchester Mall or in your local area," says Charity Torres, My Bath Bar owner.
Organizers also have high hopes for this year's event. "The market's great even for COVID-19 awareness, because it has individual sheds, its outside, people feel more comfortable walking around," says White Plains Holiday Market Manager Melissa Tomlin.
Oh yes, let's not forget about that tree! "I really like that if you notice the little balls, the circles go like a color, then another color, then another color," says Olivia Vitale. "I like all the colorful decorations and I like the golden color and the green at the top," adds Stella Apicella.
The White Plains Holiday Market is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, now through Dec. 19.
