Housing advocates want protections for renters put into the state's budget.

A group rallied outside Port Chester Village Hall Wednesday, calling on state lawmakers in Albany to include the so-called “Good Cause Eviction” bill in the state budget due April 1.
“Otherwise, these families are going to lose their communities they are uprooted from their communities," says Janet Rolon Fry, of the Community Resource Center.
“If the state is going to limit the increases on a unit in my building, it needs to be directly tied to my costs," says Port Chestser landlord Howie Ravikoff.
There is no indication the Good Cause Eviction bill will be included in the final state budget, but some tenant protections from the bill are in current budget proposals.
