New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J) has canceled a proposed tunnel project between New York City and New Jersey under the Hudson River.
The project would have allowed Hudson Valley residents to take a non-stop train ride into the city, instead of having to transfer trains or take the PATH train.
Christie has said his state can't afford the $2.7 billion-plus-overruns share of the $9 billion project.
Because of the project's cancellation, New Jersey may be forced to repay $350 million in loans and will have to return the construction site to its previous condition, since construction was already started.
