People around the Hudson Valley are working hard to keep cool.
The best thing to currently do is to crank up the air conditioning, but on Tuesday, people can head to a cooling center to beat the heat.
Westchester County has a list of places to go, including the Nepperhan Community Center, which closes at 8 p.m.
Another option would be a pool or beach. Westchester County announced its beaches and pools will be open an hour later until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday because of the heat. People may want to go early because it's expected to be packed.
News 12 was told more than 1,000 people were out at Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers Monday trying to cool off while soaking up some rays. However, it's important to avoid the heat.
The weather can be so dangerous when it comes to heat strokes and heat exhaustion. The people News 12 spoke to Monday said they were thankful they could spend some of the day out by the pool.
Some tips on avoiding heat stroke and heat exhaustion:
If you have to be outside, take breaks.
Don't wear heavy clothing.
Wear a hat.
Stay hydrated - not just when you are outside.
