Crews from the Orangetown Highway Department spent Friday pre-treating local roadways in anticipation of a snowstorm that is expected to start overnight.
"It helps prevent the bonding of ice and snow to the pavement and it gives us time to get out there to get it cleaned off," says Mike Yannazzone, of the Orangetown Highway Department.
Workers also inspected the trucks and plows to make sure they're in working order. Orangetown had a total of 25 plow trucks on the roads Friday evening.
