Hudson Valley EMT charged with sexual assault surrenders state license

News 12 has learned that a Hudson Valley EMT accused of sexually assaulting his female co-worker while on duty has now surrendered his state license.
Jeff Ashdown was arrested by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office at the Mamakating First Aid Squad in Wurtsboro last month.
The 33-year-old emergency medical technician voluntarily surrendered his state license last week, according to a spokesperson for the New York state Department of Health.
State records online show the action was taken after the DOH found Ashdown violated the required code of conduct.
Ashdown is also the president of the Ulster County EMS Council and assistant chief for Wallkill Ambulance Corps in Ulster County.
News 12 reached out to both agencies to check on Ashdown’s status there but hasn’t heard back.
Ashdown was put on leave at Mamakating First Aid Squad after his arrest. Ashdown’s attorney responded to News 12's latest inquiry about the license surrender saying, “If that is even true, it has no significance with anything,” says Glenn Kroll. “He still maintains his complete innocence,”
News 12 reached out to the Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office to confirm the status of the criminal case against Ashdown but has not immediately received a response.
