Hudson Valley officials are increasing security after a mass shooting overseas targeted the Jewish community.
The attack happened on Australia's Bondi Beach as hundreds gathered to celebrate the first night of Hanukkah. At least 15 people were killed and more than two dozen were hurt in what Australian officials called an act of anti-Semitic terrorism.
Authorities said the two gunmen were father and son. This was Australia's deadliest shooting in almost three decades.
Westchester County officials said they will increase patrols around houses of worship and public events. Rockland officials said the county sheriff's office will have an increased presence this week to keep all communities safe.
