The polls opened early Tuesday in Westchester County and across the Hudson Valley on primary day.
In Westchester County, one of the big primary races is in Greenburgh where long-time Democratic Supervisor Paul Feiner is facing a challenge from William Greenawalt. Another closely watched race is the Democratic primary in North Castle. Town Board Member Reese Burman and Village Water and Sewer Department Superintendent Anthony Futia will go head-to-head for the North Castle supervisor position. They are trying to unseat Republican incumbent John Lombardi, who has been North Castle supervisor for 44 years.
Meanwhile, in Rockland County six Democratic candidates are vying for the right to run for mayor of Spring Valley. Suffern residents will also decide on a Democratic candidate for mayor. In Orange County, there is a Democratic primary for Monroe supervisor.
The polls close at 9 p.m.
