A cherished piece of Briarcliff Manor’s art scene is closing its doors.

Images Art Gallery, founded by 92-year-old artist Marie Alpert, is ending a remarkable 45-year run as one of the Hudson Valley’s most welcoming creative spaces.

Known for its warm light, landscape paintings, and neighborhood charm, the gallery became a gathering spot for artists and friends alike.

“The people came in just to chat,” Alpert said, recalling the personal relationships that defined her work as much as the art itself.

Over the years, patrons found inspiration among the brushstrokes and clay — and in Marie herself.

“It’s bittersweet,” said her great-niece, Molly Lastra. “This place has served the community for decades.”

As Marie sells her final pieces this weekend, loyal customers like Chris Bassett say they’ll continue the tradition of friendship and art — just now in Marie’s living room.
