Communities in the Hudson Valley are opening their arms to victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti as refugees start making their way to the U.S.

In East Ramapo, there are now more than two dozen Haitian refugee students signed up to enroll for school. "The students that we have now are all the way from Pre-k? through high school," says East Ramapo Superintendent Ira Oustatcher. "So at this point, we're thinking of opening three new segments."

Oustatcher says he welcomes the students, but doesn't know how many of them to expect or how much it could cost in the end. He's hoping the state will chip in if costs become too great.
