Hundreds turned out in Newburgh over the weekend to show their support for Habitat for Humanity.
The organization hosted its 25th annual Walk for Housing, drawing participants from the local community. Organizers emphasized the importance of the event, stating that it serves as a crucial opportunity to connect with the community and raise funds for their ongoing work.
Jill Marie, executive director of Habitat for Humanity Newburgh, highlighted the financial challenges involved in their mission. "It costs about $350,000 to build a house here," Marie explained. "We sell to families for approximately $150,000. So the difference is up to us to make up."
Despite the financial hurdles, there was optimism regarding the outcome of the walk. The executive director expressed hope that they would raise around $15,000 from the event.
