The world of a West Nyack family has been turned upside down after a trip to Spain came to a sudden halt when the family's 77-year-old matriarch fell and suffered a severe brain injury.
"It was a vacation because my mom is from Spain and she wanted to show the boys her home country," says Marguerite Coffinet, whose mother, Maria Paz Coffinet, took a terrible fall while walking near a brook with her three grandsons.
Marguerite Coffinet says her mother, a retired school teacher, has lived in Rockland County for decades.
Maria Paz Coffinet is expected to return home in the next few weeks, but her daughter says she still has a very long road to recovery ahead.
