'I have a bomb:' Knife-wielding man fatally shot by police on Brooklyn Bridge

A knife-wielding man who said that he had a bomb was fatally shot by police on the Brooklyn Bridge.
Police say a 911 call for a man walking on the beams of the Brooklyn Bridge came in just before 3:30 a.m. Officers saw the man walking on the bridge cables and attempted for an hour to talk to the man and get him down safely.
The man was holding a knife and told officers, “I want to die. I want you to kill me. I have a bomb. You’re going to make me do something bad to the cops.”
The officers made multiple commands for the man to drop the knife. When the man began to move towards the officers with the knife, the officers tried to move away but could not do so due to being clipped to the bridge with a harness.
One of the officers on the bridge roadway fired one shot and officers immediately rendered aid.
A knife was recovered from the scene as well as a flashlight.
The man was taken to NYC Health+Hospitals/Bellevue and was pronounced dead.
The Force Investigation Division is now investigating the incident.
