A vigil was held Monday for a Bronx father who was killed on his way to work in an unprovoked attack.
George Ennin, 53, was stabbed to death in front of 3077 3rd Ave., two blocks his home and steps away from a playground, just before 2 p.m. on Jan. 5. Prosecutors say Sean Jones, 38, is charged with murder and was arraigned Friday.
Ennin’s family, members of the Ghanian community, faith leaders and the Bronx District Attorney’s Office gathered in prayer, lit candles and spoke out about the tragedy.
Ennin’s daughter and sister shared emotional tributes about Ennin, who they say was loved by many people in the community.
“I look up, I know he's looking down on me, telling me to keep going,” Ennin’s daughter said. “Not to give up, so I want to say I love you so much. And I miss you. And I'm so sorry this happened to you. But I'll bring justice.”
News 12 previously spoke to Ennin’s sister, Regina, who says she found out about the gruesome attack on television.
Prosecutors say Jones faces additional charges, including manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon. He has multiple prior offenses, including assault, robbery and trespassing, according to authorities.
