The state Department of Transportation has the Tappan Zee Bridge under a microscope for the second full day of safety inspections and found what it has labeled a yellow flag Tuesday.

Inspectors say about a foot of loose concrete is located underneath the bridge, but authorities say it is not a cause for alarm and the bridge is still safe for drivers.

The DOT is looking closely at the Tappan Zee in the wake of the fatal Minnesota bridge collapse. Inspectors in Minneapolis found there may have been a design flaw that caused the bridge to crumble. However, the Tappan Zee?s chief engineer said so far, inspectors haven?t found anything to suggest there are design flaws.

Meanwhile, Sen. Hillary Clinton has called on federal officials to take a look at all of the nation?s aging bridges.

A meeting on the Tappan Zee inspections will be held Thursday at Orangetown Town Hall.
