On this Saint Patrick's Day, there are many Irish pubs in New Jersey that celebrate the day in style, including the Shannon Rose in Clifton. Speaking of celebrating in style, it's News 12's Tony Caputo there once again this morning to preview what fun is expected there today. Tony, take it away. Happy Saint Patrick's Day, Simon, Nick, to all of you again, you're right. Look, I'm, I'm prepared this year. I was here last year and they gave me a hat, so I threw it right on this morning, got my shirt on, ready to go for Saint Patrick's Day. Kerrie Smith is with us. Kerrie, uh, Smith Irish School of Dance in Jersey City Academy of Dance, right? That's right in there. Just look it up. You'll find it. But, uh, we met last year and the girls are. Amazing. And ever since then I've been seeing them out at different events all the time. They just jump right out at you because they're so talented and you're showing them the way. I am, yeah, I mean, I've been, we've been open for about 15 years in Jersey City now, so, um, it's been a, it's been a road to get here and um it's really great seeing generation after generation now of kids, um, coming and learning dance and learning about Irish culture and everything that goes along with it. News New Jersey's Tony Caputo is back there once again this year with a look at the fun that is expected throughout the day. Good morning, Tony. Good morning, Nick. Happy Saint Patrick's Day to everybody. Irish Fair is what we're focusing on here. Shannon Rose Irish Pub in Clifton. This place is already hopping, and you see how many people are in here, but throughout the day it's going to get crazy. Let's bring in Reagan DiBenedetto, director of operations for Shannon Rose. Let me correct myself, Regan, Regan, yes, thank you, Tony. Nice to see you. You said we just talked last year, man. You messed that up again. We can devetted that, Owen. You've got some great plates going on here. We're gonna save, in my opinion, the best for last, but let's start over here. What do you got? So total fan favorite, this is our corned beef and cabbage. It's your classic corned beef and cabbage served with white potatoes and traditional Irish soda bread. Fantastic. Love the soda bread too. Wife just brought me a whole loaf of it yesterday. What about here? This is the Irish breakfast, right? Yes, this is the Irish breakfast of champions. So you've got. Eggs anyway, black and white pudding, bangers, uh, rashers, traditional grilled tomato, and of course the Irish soda bread to go with that. I give anybody credit who can finish that plate and then have a Guinness. What about this one here? Absolutely. So this is our harp battered fish and chips. It's, uh, absolutely delicious. We've done a to a ton of it, especially this month with Lent going on on Fridays. So fresh heart battered fish, tartar sauce, and in-house. Made coleslaw. I'm with you. On a Friday, I would have that as well. How about here? Got some more Irish soda bread going. Yeah, so this is our Dublin pie. It's a take on our shepherd's pie, which is on the menu all year long. The shepherd's pie is with beef, and this one we actually step it up a little bit. It's made with a braised lamb, mixed vegetables, and it's topped with not regular mashed potatoes, but cold cannon. So you've got your mashed potatoes mixed up with cheese, cabbage, bacon on top. Yeah, it's the whole deal, and that's filling, but this, this is the one right here. I mean that is killer. They just brought this out too, so there might be a bite out of it soon. What are we talking about here? So Shannon Rose has the best burgers. We start our burgers off with a half a pound of fresh ground beef. This one is the Saint Patty's Day burger, so we had to put some corned beef on there. We've got a mustard sauce. We've got a boxy, which is basically an Irish potato pancake, and it's all. On that gorgeous bun served with french fries, Regan DiBenedetto, we appreciate it. Shannon Rose Irish Pub here in Clifton. What time do all the festivities start? Thank you for being here. Doors open at 10:00 a.m. and we're here to party all day and all night. Fantastic. We are live in Clifton 10:00 a.m. The doors open. How many young people do you have dancing at the Academy? We have a pretty Small school actually we have like 25 or 30 in the school um we've kind of been rebuilding since, you know, COVID hit everybody pretty hard. We've been coming back strong, um, but yeah, anyone can do Irish dance we're happy to have anybody come down, try a class for free. It's a lot of fun, um, and you really get a lot of really cool experiences like this right now here at the Shannon Rose. Enjoy, folks. Happy Saint Patrick's Day. sir. Behind the bar, because I've always wanted to be Sam Malone anyway. You remember Cheers? The young people are like, what are you talking about? Maybe you can Google it. But at any rate, you got Guinness. Remember that perfect pour I did a little earlier with Kinch? Now, somebody drank this, and I'm telling you, it was The Guinness 0, but some of you may not believe me. You're never gonna know. Emily Crooks is here. She is with the Shannon Rose. Emily, you are the senior marketing specialist, but you're also an expert at doing the perfect pour from the tap on Guinness. Show us how it's done. OK, so you want to start off. You tilt it at a 45 degree angle. You pull the tap back. We're gonna let it fill. And you got to be careful here because obviously you get a little too much going on at the top of the beer. You don't want that, right? Yeah, so you stop, you let it settle. You're gonna let this settle for about 90 seconds. Look at that. Anybody who drinks Guinness knows just that that whole cascading effect. I love it. So this is how it looks once it settles. I will swap that out for the sake of time, OK, and then you just push it back. And you let that fill up. That is the perfect pork. There you go, and this is how it looks. Wow. Go ahead and throw that down next to that one if you can. So there we go. You get that, and that's all part of the fun of drinking a Guinness, right, to just see that cascading there when they put it down in the bar, and that's the finished product there. That is beautiful. That is fantastic. Now that's, that's legit Guinness. Now over here we have the Guinness Zero, which we've been talking about all morning because it really does have a similar taste and obviously it is a little more responsible for those who may be driving to the roast it's definitely. Choice if you're not drinking. It tastes exactly like Guinness, honestly, and we have a whole line of non-alcoholic as well at the Shannon Rose. All right, I think I'll take one of each, Emily.
