Jayne Street Bridge in Orange County gets $1.35M boost for restoration
The Jayne Street Bridge in the Village of Florida, which has been closed for some time, is one step closer to reopening. Town of Warwick officials announced the bridge will receive funding from the Bridge NY grant program. The grant will cover $1.35 million of the more than $3.6 million needed for the restoration.
Officials said they have already secured additional funding from the Orange County Transportation Council to cover the remaining portion of the project.
The town will also be responsible for a 5% match of the Bridge NY grant, totaling $67,500.
While the grant is a positive step toward reopening the bridge, town officials said the full design, bidding, and construction process will take time.
