Jets ship QB Darnold to Panthers for draft picks
If there was any ever doubt that the Jets were going QB in the upcoming NFL draft, those went away today.
The Jets sent former No. 3 pick Sam Darnold, 23, to the Carolina Panthers for a package of draft picks.  The Jets will get back a sixth-round pick this year in addition to a second-round and fourth-round pick in 2022.
Picked by the Jets out of USC in 2018, Darnold showed flashes of promise but never seemed to find his footing under two coaches, who have since been fired, and a lack of offensive support on the field.
The trade reunites Darnold with wide receiver Robbie Anderson.
There has been speculation that the Jets were looking to take BYU quarterback Zach Wilson with the number 2 pick in this year's draft - and this move sure makes it seem like they're going in that direction.
So now the Jets will be heading into the 2021 season with new head coach Robert Saleh and a new face behind center.
