Call filtering apps like Hiya, RoboKiller, and Nomorobo can also help.

However, spam texts have increased in recent years, often from scammers trying to initiate conversations with potential victims. Filtering texts can be effective, but may not be an option for everyone.

Registering with the National Do Not Call Registry and using call-blocking apps can help reduce unwanted calls. He also advises being cautious with personal information online.

To protect yourself, verify caller IDs, avoid engaging with suspicious calls or texts, and report spam to the FCC.
