New York state has opened nominations for its Teacher of the Year award.
Any person in a school community can initially nominate a teacher. The formal nomination later should be more collaborative and include letters of support.
The winner will serve as the ambassador for teaching across the state and the country. The award winner will get to meet President Joe Biden and receive professional development opportunities.
The deadline for nominations is Feb. 1 with the winner is typically named in the fall.
