Lady Gaga to sing national anthem, JLo will perform at Biden’s inauguration
The lineup for President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration is out, and there are some big-name New Yorkers on it.
While it'll be a mostly virtual inauguration, the committee is hoping it'll be an exciting one with both Jennifer Lopez and Lady Gaga joining in on the event. The presidential inaugural committee announced today that the invocation will be led by Father Leo J. O'Donovan and the pledge of allegiance by Andrea Hall.
A poetry reading will be done by Amanda Gorman, and the Benediction will be done by Rev. Dr. Silvester Beaman. Read more here.
The National Anthem will be performed by Lady Gaga, and JLo will have a musical performance.
Lady Gaga has a history with Joe Biden. While he was vice president under Barack Obama, she worked with him on the "It's on Us" campaign, which addressed sexual assault on college campuses. She also campaigned with him during this election.
Meanwhile, JLo and her partner Alex Rodriguez have been vocal about the impact of coronavirus on Latinos. The committee says the mostly virtual inauguration will feature a prime time program called "Celebrating America," a 90- minute extravaganza hosted by Tom Hanks and featuring Ant Clemons, Jon Bon Jovi, Demi Lovato and Justin Timberlake.
