Students from Laurel Plains Elementary School will now be attending classes at vacant Hillcrest Elementary School.
Dr. Ira Oustatcher, superintendent of the East Ramapo School District, says it is happy to help out its neighbors in the Clarkstown School District.
A sewer-like smell that some say is making them sick has shut down Laurel Plains for weeks.
Experts have discovered a number of things, including rodent nests, chemicals in the soil and a very small gas leak outside the school, but they have not been able to pinpoint the problem.
Clarkstown's superintendent says it should take about a week to get the building ready for classes. 
Officials say the lease is $16,000 a month for two months.
