State lawmakers in the city of Newburgh announced a new push to get dangerous chemicals out of the drinking water on Friday.
PFAS, or so-called "forever chemicals," have been threatening Hudson Valley drinking water sources for years.

The contaminants don't break down easily and have been linked to cancer, kidney disease and birth defects.

Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand and James Skoufis announced Friday that they were teaming up for a measure called the Clean Water Standards for PFAS Act.

The bill seeks to hold corporate polluters accountable and secure further funding to test and purify water sources here in the Hudson Valley.
