Bronx tenants of an NYCHA building say flooding from an apartment above them is ruining their home.
Reina Quinones has lived in the Forest Houses on East 163 Street for 10 years. She says the bubbling of her walls started a week ago, which is being caused by flooding in the insulation.
The apartment with the flooding problem is in bad shape, according to neighbors. They say it is filled with roaches and the birds of an elderly woman, who they believe is not well.
Tenants say the fourth floor of the building has a bad odor and the apartment in question needs to be cleaned.
Quinones tells News 12 The Bronx that her calls to 311 have been unanswered, prompting her to call News 12.
After News 12 called NYCHA, workers downtown said they "will be getting access to the apartment... and will do a heavy-duty cleaning this week." They said they are now aware of the situation but are not sure what action, if any, will be taken against the tenant where the leak started.
