Members of the LGBTQ+ community, families and friends gathered in Greenburgh Saturday for the town’s first ever pride rally.
Organizers say the rally was created to call attention to the contributions and needs of the community in Westchester.
Participants say they felt a renewed sense of empowerment at the rally.
"I think it’s important that we love our children, our peers and our neighbors no matter what, because it’s what's in your soul,” says Mechelle Brown, whose daughter is transgender.
With equal support coming from both the village of Tarrytown and the town of Greenburgh, this pride rally will likely be held again for many years to come.
