Light show: Severe solar storm produces spectacular auroras across the tri-state

It was quite a sight to see.
A severe solar storm triggered colorful auroras across the tri-state area and beyond Friday night and overnight.
The Space Weather Prediction Center says this is the first time the planet has experienced something like this since 2003.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration issued a rare geomagnetic storm watch that lasts all weekend.
