A group of local soccer players are attempting to break the world record for the longest indoor soccer game ever played.
The current record, which was set in 2005 in Cyprus, stands at 30 hours, but the volunteer players who gathered in Tarrytown Saturday afternoon are planning to kick their way into the Guinness Book by playing 35 to 40 hours straight.
?The game is fun,? says participant Evan Davies. ?[But] it's hard staying up through the night.?
While the game continues, the players take turns getting a 5-minute break at the top of each hour, and they substitute players who are taking turns sleeping for about one hour.
If all goes according to plan, the players will finish their historic soccer game at 11:00 a.m. Sunday after kicking the ball for a total of 35 hours.
