A 62-year-old man from Mahopac died in a motorcycle crash on the New York State Thruway near exit 18, state police said.

Martin Muller was riding northbound on Tuesday morning when his rear tire blew out, causing the motorcycle to turn sideways and roll in the left lane. Muller was thrown about 80 feet from the bike.

New Paltz EMS crews attempted life-saving measures at the scene before he was taken to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
