There are big changes coming to Newburgh Enlarged City School District.
Sledgehammers were swinging at New Windsor School - symbolically marking the start of a major construction project in the school district.
Voters approved the $257 million capital bond project in 2019, and completion is expected between 2022 and 2025.
A new Career Technology Education building will be built and Hermitage Middle School, Vails Gate Steam Academy will see expansions, as well as the historic New Windsor School.
“If we want to remain competitive, if we’re going to draw in families… and have families want to raise their families in our community, we have to give them something that’s worth it… and part of that is making sure that our facilities are state of the art," says Newburgh Enlarged City School District Superintendent Dr. Roberto Padilla.
Renovations are planned at other schools within the district.
