Mamaroneck officials: ICE makes arrest on Mamaroneck Avenue

The police department issued a statement saying it was “not notified that ICE agents were going to be present.”

Mayor Sharon Torres confirmed to News 12 Friday that a person was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in the Village of Mamaroneck.
News 12 received calls that ICE agents were in Mamaroneck Friday morning on Mamaroneck Avenue at the Open Door Family Medical Center and a Speedway gas station. A caller said a few people were arrested.
“While several people were questioned/stopped in that area, one person with a prior alleged criminal incident was arrested by ICE and is in their custody. The Village Police Department had not been given a heads up prior to the event,” Torres said in an email to News 12.
A Village of Mamaroneck police spokesperson told News 12 that they were not notified that ICE agents were going to be present today. He said ICE confirmed that they were in the village this morning at around 7:15 a.m.- 8 a.m. on Mamaroneck Avenue. They were looking for an individual that had a warrant for a second misdemeanor in New York state and immigration violation. They did not find that person. However, they found a second individual with a warrant for a misdemeanor in New York and immigration violations. That person was placed in custody.
