Police have identified the man who was fatally shot in the subway at the 170th Street Station. Police say, Adrian Dawodu, 41, of Manhattan, was shot to death on Tuesday afternoon. This is the first homicide aboard transit for the year.
News 12 obtained video taken from a passenger as those shots were fired on the platform. Dawadou is was seen laying on the ground while the gunman ran away. The incident happened just before 3 p.m., a time where kids are dismissed from school and the afternoon rush begins.
Police say there was a fight right before the shooting between the gunman and the victim. Dawadou was shot multiple times all over his body and died at the hospital. Police got a tip that the gunman was hiding about eight minutes away on Townsend Avenue, but he was nowhere to be found. They say he was wearing a grey parka jacket. This subway station is no stranger to gun violence; there was another shooting at the 170th Street Station just over a month ago. A teen was taken into custody for that.
