The Katonah community is mourning the loss of Wesley LePatner, one of four people killed in Monday evening’s tragic shooting in Midtown Manhattan.

LePatner, who had family in Katonah, was the chief executive officer of Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust. She had worked at the firm since 2014, following more than a decade at Goldman Sachs. She held a degree in history from Yale.

A spokesperson for Blackstone said the company is devastated, calling LePatner a beloved member of their team who will be sorely missed.

"She was brilliant, passionate, warm, generous, and deeply respected within our firm and beyond. She embodied the best of Blackstone," the company said in a statement.

People around Katonah tell News 12, they are shocked by this unspeakable tragedy and are hurting for LePatner's family.

"It's just so tragic," said one Katonah resident.

LePatner is remembered as a passionate, warm and generous person who leaves behind her husband and two children. She was 43 years old.
