A Mount Saint Mary College Student from Maybrook is competing for the title of New York State Dairy Princess.
Gabrielle Miyoshi, 18, and 11 other young women throughout the state will participate in an online pageant on Feb. 16.
Miyoshi tells News 12 she grew up with a love for cows and milk. She hopes to be among the first class of dairy princesses to represent the state’s dairy industry during the pandemic.
“When I finally did get involved, I kind of threw myself into it 100%,” says Miyoshi. “Just educated myself through the help of so many mentors in my county, trying to learn as much as I could and trying to teach as many people like me."
The college student is competing for a chance to become a dairy ambassador who teaches kids about the importance of agriculture and dairy farming.
