Meals on Wheels in Nanuet, which is hoping to make the holidays pleasant for hundreds of local residents, began preparing 500 meals at 5 a.m. today.

"Getting the meal, it gives you a good feeling because of the fact that they know that they can be in their home instead of being at a facility, which is kind of cold ? so they're much more comfortable," says chef Joseph D'Apolito, whose group delivers meals to local homes.

Volunteers will deliver the Christmas meals to the homebound throughout Rockland tomorrow.
