A Rockland County grocery store that had opened just last year abruptly closed Monday.
Shoppers in Central Nyack say they just found out Met Fresh Market on Route 59 shut down.
News 12 peaked inside to see stocked shelves and spoiled fruit. Posted on the door was a failed inspection, stating a critical deficiency in food safety and sanitation.
The inspection filed by New York state was dated from last week. It claims that if the store doesn't make immediate improvements, it could end up in court.
The owners of Met Fresh Market claim the store shut down because it wasn't doing well. They say their employees were told ahead of time.
The owners did not comment on what they plan to do with the store's stock.
