A state worker at Mid-Hudson Psychiatric Center in New Hampton pleaded guilty Thursday to animal abuse that resulted in the dog’s leg being amputated.

Betty Ann Davis, from Bushkill, Pennsylvania, was
caught on surveillance video last January throwing “Elli,” a 9-pound pomsky, five times off a two-story deck at a residence in Pike County, Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania prosecutors say the abuse happened while the 49-year-old dog-sat for the dog’s owner, who was a longtime friend.
According to court officials, Davis pleaded guilty to aggravated animal cruelty and will be sentenced in March.
News 12 is told Davis was put on leave from the psychiatric center shortly after her arrest. News 12 reached out to the New York State Office of Mental Health for updated information.
It’s not clear what sentence Davis could be facing.
