? A magnitude-5.0 earthquake struck Canada yesterday and its effects were able to be felt in Orange County.
The tremor, which occurred at 1:41 p.m., was centered about 33 miles north of the Canadian capital of Ottawa.
Deputy Commissioner Seamus O?Leary, of the Orange County Office of Emergency Management, says that some residents made 911 calls to report the quake. He also says that there have been no reports of damage or injuries.
Officials say that earthquakes of this magnitude are rare in this region. The last was a magnitude-5.3 earthquake, which struck near Plattsburgh, N.Y. on April 20, 2002.
