Minisink Valley mourns loss of 17-year-old student after car accident

A 17-year-old Minisink Valley High School student was killed in a car accident Sunday morning.
The student, whose name has not been released, was one of four passengers in the vehicle. Three other students were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The Minisink Valley School District announced the student's death and said counselors will be available at the high school to provide support for students and staff.
"All necessary resources will be provided for as long as necessary," the district said.
Homecoming activities scheduled for this week have been postponed, but Friday's football game remains scheduled.
Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus offered condolences, asking the public to keep the affected students and families in their prayers.

The accident remains under investigation.
