Authorities say a mother and her 8-year-old daughter were killed Monday in Brewster after being hit by a drunken driver.

Police say Lori Donahue and her daughter, second-grader Kayla, were hit by a pickup truck as they were walking to the 8-year-old's dance class at the Seven Stars School of Performing Arts on Route 22.

Police say the driver of the pickup, Zacariah Conses-Garcia, has been arrested and charged with first-degree vehicular manslaughter. Police say Conses-Garcia is an illegal immigrant and has worked as a farm laborer.
