Shoppers in Monsey will have to travel farther to get their groceries after learning that a local Pathmark will be shut down.
The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company, which owns the Pathmark on Route 59, is shutting down 25 of its stores in five states as part of a turnaround strategy to save costs.
The company is encouraging customers to shop at its Pathmark in Nanuet instead. However, those who don't have a car say it will be a huge hassle to stock up on their necessities.
The move also means more than 100 workers from the area will be laid off. The store is expected to close next month.
