Monticello mom says daughter assaulted twice in 4 months at school, criticizes school's response

A Monticello mom is criticizing the school district’s response to bullying, saying her daughter was assaulted twice in four months and recently left with a concussion.
Ann Marie Loucks sent News 12 photos of a lump on her 11-year-old daughter’s head and medical records showing her diagnosis after the sixth grader was allegedly assaulted at Robert J. Kaiser Middle School last week.
Loucks says the attacker used a racial slur for Hispanics toward her child.
Loucks says the girl was repeatedly punched in the head and kicked by another student during the attack. She says school administrators have been aware of the bullying for months but suspended her daughter after she was assaulted.
“They’re not protecting all the children. They are protecting the bullies,” said Loucks “There are kids who are being victimized, and there’s more than just my child being victimized. I have other parents messaging as well asking, 'What are you doing, are you getting the same response?'”
Loucks says the district is aware that the same student attacked her daughter another time before, and that the child is sending her daughter social media messages that the little girl should hurt herself.
A representative for the Monticello school district said, "Student privacy laws prohibit schools from sharing any specific information regarding particular students. The health and safety of our students is always our top priority, and we act swiftly on any reported incidence of violence, aggression or bullying in accordance with our code of conduct and New York State laws."
