In honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, News 12 is spotlighting a local grocery store bringing the tastes and smells of Japan to Westchester County.
You can find sushi, bubble tea and other Japanese food items at Oishinbo, located on Halstead Avenue in Harrison.
Hidenori Takada has owned the store for two decades. In addition to bringing Japanese goods to the masses, he also teaches people how to make sushi and origami at local libraries and events.
Takada hopes his knowledge of food and wide selection of products will help teach people about his culture.
"I want to make a Japanese festival. I want to make my dream," he said.
