News 12 has learned that Mount Vernon Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard is recovering after undergoing a medical procedure earlier this week.
Her office and all operations in the city are continuing as usual.
Officials say she is in good spirits and is resting.
Patterson-Howard plans be back in the office by early next week.
She said in part in a statement, "I look forward to bouncing back and continuing to work on behalf of Mount Vernon."
