3ds agoThe city of Mount Vernon celebrated its graduates Friday after a tough year that involved the tragic death of 16-year-old Kayla Green.
More than 200 graduates walked across the stage getting ready to embark on the next chapter of their lives.
Students reflected on the tough times they had to deal with due to COVID-19 and with the death of Green.
Even though Green was a grade below them, many students said the news was really tough to handle.
Student say having community support is important and that everyone should reach for their dreams no matter how big or small.
