Nationwide issue affecting customers’ ability to make calls is resolved, AT&T says
A nationwide issue affected customers’ ability to complete calls to another carrier, AT&T said on Tuesday.
“The interoperability issue between carriers has been resolved. We collaborated with the other carrier to find a solution and appreciate our customers patience during this period,” said an AT&T spokesperson.
They said calls between AT&T carriers and calls to 911 were not impacted.
The carrier reiterated earlier that the issue was not within their network but a nationwide incident.
“Our network is not experiencing a nationwide outage. There is a nationwide issue that is affecting the ability of some customers to complete calls between carriers. We are working closely with Verizon to determine the nature of the issue and what actions need to be taken,” an AT&T spokesperson told News12.
A Verizon spokesperson told news 12 its network operated normally.
“Some customers in the Northeast and Midwest, are experiencing issues when calling or texting with customers served by another carrier. We are continuing to monitor the situation,” said a Verizon spokesperson.
The Federal Communications Commission helped investigate the nationwide issue.
"We're aware of reports that consumers in multiple states are unable to make wireless calls and we are currently investigating," FCC said earlier on X.
T-Mobile said their customers also reported challenges related to other networks.
"We are seeing Downdetector increases with other providers, so this likely could be challenges our customers are having connecting with users on other networks," a spokesperson for T-Mobile said.
The Downdetector, a website that reports real time network outages shows that outage reports spiked for AT&T and Verizon networks on Tuesday.
