October is National Arts and Humanities Month, a time to recognize the artists, musicians and creators who enrich communities through their work.
In New Canaan, musician Tommy Champion is doing just that.
Champion is an artist, producer, songwriter, musician and educator who says music has played a major role in his life.
Champion says creating music allows him to turn ideas into finished songs and helps him connect with others through storytelling and self-expression.
A multi-instrumentalist, Champion also noted that his nearly seven-foot frame has helped him play guitar in ways that many musicians cannot.
Beyond performing and producing, he encourages others to explore creative outlets, saying artistic expression can take many forms, including music, dance, acting and songwriting.
As communities celebrate National Arts and Humanities Month, Champion is among the local artists helping showcase the impact of the arts.
