A ribbon cutting ceremony marked the official opening of Rockland's newest 66-unit senior complex called Hyenga Lake.
The former property on the spot in Nanuet was a rundown bungalow colony. But the senior complex now sits on a park-like setting with walking trails, sitting areas and a flower garden.
Builders say they hope the new facility keeps seniors from leaving the Hudson Valley when they retire.
Officials report there are still a few available apartments left but the waiting list is already full.
