The Yorktown Green
shopping center is set to
receive a complete transformation.
The Yorktown shopping center’s owner plans to transform the nearly
vacant location into a sleek residential, retail destination.
Preliminary plans include 150 market-rate one- and
two-bedroom apartments, a new grocery store and other amenities to complement
the Yorktown Grill.
“It should be huge for our business and huge for the community
first,” says Doug Crosset, of Yorktown.
Although the proposal is premature, Town Supervisor Matt Slater is excited for what’s to come.
“It’s the shot in the arm this town and local economy needs,” says
Slater.
Slater believes the combination of
the diverse housing stock and retail
opportunities will make it a place that will attract people from all
over.
Town officials say they are still waiting to receive official
plans from the developer, but they remain hopeful that the project may begin
this year.
